We are going to miss it, due to taking a class the same day, but I still felt compelled to post...hopefully we can stagger down the streets next year and spook some Kiwis...

The seed of Halloween has taken root here, but it's definitely a new phenomena. The photo taken below was a local discount store. Over the intercom, a chipper recording of a man's voice told shoppers all about how "Halloween is coming up on October 31st the night that all the ghouls come out to roam the streets! You can be one of them with one of our spooky costumes! But, don't be offended if someone doesn't answer the door or give you candy! Not everyone celebrates Halloween!"

I heard from the Science Fiction club that there is a house in Miramar that gets all done up for Halloween, tombstones, ghosts and all. Need to try to find out where that is. They're probably Americans. Supposedly, they do the same thing at Christmas with lights, etc. Must seem really weird to New Zealanders to see this sort of behavior. But, I don't care. When...err, IF...we manage to own a home again, I will be decorating and welcoming any trick or treater who dares enter!

Well, your dwelling looks cool and the view is nifty! Did all your belongings make the trip unscathed?
Congratulations on maintaining your weight during such trying times. It is difficult to know where you stand without those da#*ed scaled.
A kilojoule is equal to 238.8459 calories, according to my conversion table. So don’t go eating a couple of hundred kilojoules! At least not in one day!
The shipment all arrived without a problem. Thank goodness we shipped as little as we did...as it is, we are in a large (by Wellington standards) apartment and are still using up every bit of storage space. Not a lot of closets, for instance, so we had to hunt down a coat/hat rack.
Interestingly, they have a show here where the spotlight is on people who are trying to lose weight, and during the show I noticed that they were using calories (not kilajoules). I also picked up a weight watchers booklet here, but unfortunately it only lists in weight watchers points so was not terribly helpful.
