A Watched Clock Never Moves...

This week's theme is "waiting." We are waiting to get into our apartment, still. You've heard that story. (But, in a few days I will have a funny entry in relation to the apartment...Title: The Ledge) Also, I am waiting to hear back from various job leads and one interview.

Interestingly, despite living out of hotel, we are still managing to get into a bit of routine here. We try to get up at 7:30 each day and walk. Our route takes us down around the waterfront, which is really beautiful. It's also really windy! I mean it, there is this one spot where the wind can be so strong that you practically have to walk horizontally, leaning against it! There is this exercise machine fad here that uses VIBRATION to work out a bunch of muscles at once. I'm sure it's shown up in the States by now. To any Wellingtonian who is paying $$$ to use that machine: Don't! Just go down to the waterfront and exercise in that maelstrom, you'll work out muscles you never knew you had as the wind whips all around you!

For breakfast, I have my favorite: Avocado and tomatoes on toast! I cannot be certain but I think I first saw this concoction on our last trip to NZ. It's on several restaurant menus here. I love it. Stacey mostly does the Muesli thing. We answer e-mails, do a blog entry or two, check electronic job boards.

Then, we head out for various errands and stuff around town. Or we make phone calls to arrange utilities. Some of it is timely and important, some of it is just killing time (just being honest). I cannot wait until I get my camping/hiking gear from the overseas shipment--at least then I can get out of town for a day or two if it suits me. And heck, what better time is there for this than early in the season, and when I am unemployed? Hehe.

The day ends with me coming back to the hotel and watching a bit of New Zealand Idol. Yes, they have it here. And no, I don't really watch it. Can't bring myself to. You know how bad the contestants are for American Idol, right? Well, that's with having a population of 295,734,134 to draw from. NOW...imagine how bad the candidates are if you are drawing from 4,035,461. Ouch! I just know some NZ Idol fan is going to chew my butt out on the street for saying this, but it's true.
