I am behind on my entries for the past few days, due largely to a sudden change in our route plans. Consequently, this post will be broken into multiple parts with the actual dates associated with the travel over each one. I know, confusing…but I wanted to put pics with each one so this seemed the best way. Here goes...
August 19-21, 2006, in Auckland
The 3 days in Auckland were not as bad as I thought they would be, but we were still ready to get out of the city. Noisy, crowded, smoky and smelly were terms I would apply to it, at least in the vicinity of our hotel. Our hotel was also pretty sloppy. It seemed like a bunch of kids were running the place, and the constant smell of cigarettes clung to the place (despite it being a no-smoking hotel). It’s not to say all of Auckland was bad, actually. We did a very nice coastal drive outside of town, visited Kelley Tarltan’s Aquarium, and toured the Auckland Museum. We also managed to enjoy some of the smaller funky neighbourhoods within Auckland, which were all pretty neat and fun. Still, we were ready to get outta there.
